No, it was better to fully read it, actually, to understand more what this story (and the man) was about.
Traveling could seem a good idea, but a journey in a different world unsettled him. So he just decided to go to a cornfield. This cornfield is a bit far from his house, but with some hours of walking he could reach it, and since walking has never been a problem for him, he started to walk. What should he do there? Well, he didn't actually know, but somehow he was sure that something cool will have happened.
