The Writer's Bricks that YOU can edit!!

Read

This is most of what we have drafted for Writers Bricks. You'll notice some newer bricks that are kind of haphazard. This is a violation of our general policy to only post very polished bricks (even if they don't work all that well with certain surrounding bricks yet), but this is because skipFron is still somewhat beta, and we want to get the idea down of surfing at least one nova (square of 7 by 7 bricks). So don't think that skipFron will normally be like this. Frangles and everything to do with Frangles is always beta-esque, of course, but everything we accomplish gets less and less so over time. [Just like this very blurb.]

FYI... you can now edit this yourself. Yes, really. No account creation. Just edit anything you like, with a few exceptions:

EDITING RULES

1) Add stuff rather than modifying other stuff. This open you-edit system is largely part of the beta process, and we'd like to see you have some fun with the structure rather than tweak or polish bricks already here. To create or edit a brick, simply log in as Admin, then click "edit" when you're reading to edit a brick, or "create" somewhere... or something like that. It's all self-explanatory if you know anything about computers.

2) ANYTHING VULGAR / CRUDE / NONTRIVIALLY DEFAMATORY / BLAH / BLAH / BLAH / BLAH WILL RESULT IN YOUR IP BEING PUT ON A LIST OF "PEOPLE FOR SQUISH TO TRACK DOWN AND BE VERY MEAN TO IN REAL REAL LIFE THE NEXT TIME HE HAS A PSYCHOTIC BREAK". You do NOT want to be on this list.

3) You can't do anything until you find the password, hidden deep within the bricks themselves (unless some a$$hole has deleted it (you CAN'T say "a$$hole" FYI that's a very bad word that will result on your IP being on the Squish kill list (as you can see we're slightly lenient not 100% vicious here but anything worse than a$$hole dollar signs included will definitely get you on that list))). (fyi the password is "test")

4) DO NOT POST ANYTHING THAT YOU WOULD SUE US OVER IF WE PUBLISHED WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT AND WON A PULITZER PRIZE FOR. BY UNITED STATES LAW--AND SIMILAR LAWS IN OTHER COUNTRIES--YOU OWN THE COPYRIGHT TO A WORK THE MOMENT IT'S PUT IN A TANGIBLE MEDIUM, INCLUDING DIGITAL MEDIUMS, HOWEVER, WE CANNOT GUARANTEE SOMETHING YOU POST WILL NEVER BE OFFICIALLY PUBLISHED, NOR CAN WE PROMISE NOT TO USE A FRESH CREATIVE IDEA OR PASSAGE AS INSPIRATION OR MUSE MATERIAL IN OUR OWN CREATIVE WRITING. IF YOU ARE CONFUSED BY THIS LEGAL STATEMENT OR THE LAWS INVOLVED--ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE NOT A UNITED STATES CITIZEN AND DON'T KNOW PRECISELY HOW THESE LAWS APPLY TO YOUR COUNTRY OR AREA--EITHER DO NOT ADD ANY CREATIVE MATERIAL, OR SEEK FULL CLARIFICATION (E.G. BY GOOGLING THE LAWS INVOLVED, OR READING THE SUPPLEMENTARY BLURB THAT WILL ONE DAY EXIST BELOW THIS PARAGRAPH BY THE GRACE OF A BORED FREER).

Elaboration... On your basic, everyday intrinsic legal rights (completely outside of Frangles). Understand that if you type an essay into your home computer and save this essay as a text file, you own the copyright to that work (assuming it's your own work) the moment that file is saved. [Technically it could be earlier, i.e. while you're typing it in, but that's a bit less concrete; the point is to have a work in a tangible, concrete form, one that could theoretically be registered with a copyright office, although it does not have to be registered to be copyrgihted in U.S. law.] We are NOT considering something you type or edit here as a transfer of copyright, per se, however, we can't promise we won't be inspired by your work in a way resulting in us creating precisely the same thing verbatim in a way we've subconsciuosly bulshed ourselves into thinking was entirely our own idea(s). If this does not confuse you (or you don't care about the consequences if it doesn't turn out to mean what you think it means given our absurdly unparsable jargon and fourthwalse legal red tape parodying (this kind, not the tape used in Pulse to keep out the silly cell phone ghosts)), do not edit or create Fragles or skipFron material or material in/of related sagas or projects.

5) DO NOT POST IDEAS OR METHODS OF YOURS OR ANYONE ELSE'S THAT COULD POTENTIALLY FALL UNDER PATENT LAW, HOWEVER ABSURD YOU THINK THE POSSIBILITY IS THAT SUCH IDEA COULD BE PATENTED, DEVELOPED, SOLD, OR PROFITED FORM. To be extra clear, we are not saying that you may post such ideas as long as you give up your rights to them. We are saying: do not post them whatsoever. You are very very very unlikely to be aware how just easy it is for a simple good idea to be developed, patented, and sold legally without permission or obligation (i.e. to those who know how to make that sort of a thing happen (e.g. us!)). You are unlikely to be aware just how powerful your simple ideas can be if they're properly nourished, and hence we think most people are prone to not protecting their ideas as much as they would if they were aware of their potential. You may have second thoughts about posting "In the beginning, there was a quantum hover toaster that was so stupid it couldn't possibly be patented despite the legal statements I'm blowing off in order to write this sentence" when somebody (e.g. us (that's e.g. not i.e. by the way, you should look up the difference as we don't know what the hell it even is and might be a good path to stumbling upon a legal loophole)) actually goes out and starts "Quantum Hover Toasters, Inc." founded purely on your suggestion and makes billions of dollars, then uses them to pay a blimp to fly over your house all day long with a flag that says "idiot...this could have been yours..mwuahah". Just... don't... post it.

A few examples of ideas that could potentially fall under patent law:
1) a quantum hover toaster
2) a method for organizing recipes nonlinearly
3) a camera that attaches to a baseball cap
4) a "Frangles" napkin dispenser
5) "Microsoft" napkin dispensers
6) "Fricroloft" napkin dispensor(s)
7) a dual napkin / business card dispenser
8) algorithms for making "blah" anagrams
9) methods for legal loophole software

Have fun...or not...just be basically good.
